Everyone calling for the Jets to sign a quarterback got what they wanted Tuesday, but it still may not quiet the cries for the franchise to fix the position.

The Jets had veteran Trevor Siemian in for a visit on Tuesday and signed him to the practice squad after he passed his physical.

This will be the second stint with the Jets for the 31-year-old.

He played for the Jets in 2019, making one abbreviated start in Week 2 against the Browns on “Monday Night Football.”

Myles Garrett hit Siemian and caused a season-ending ankle injury after he threw just six passes.

The signing of Siemian likely will do little to calm down Jets fans who are tired of seeing Zach Wilson at quarterback.

Siemian will be on the practice squad and needs to get up to speed on the playbook before the Jets can consider bringing him up to the active roster.

Siemian does have familiarity with the West Coast offense and he played for Luke Getsy with the Bears last season.

Getsy spent three seasons on the Packers staff with Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, so there may be some crossover between the two offenses.

The Jets have been looking to add a quarterback since Aaron Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon four plays into the season but did not love the options.

They were interested in signing Chad Henne, who knows Hackett’s offense, but he chose to stay retired.

They were also interested in Rams practice squad quarterback Brett Rypien, who played for Hackett in Denver last year, but the Rams signed Rypien to their active roster when the Jets showed interest.

Siemian was a seventh-round pick of the Broncos in 2015.

He has started 30 games and appeared in five more, throwing for 7,027 yards, 42 touchdowns and 28 interceptions.

He has played for the Broncos, Vikings, Titans, Saints and Bears.

He was with the Bengals in training camp this year but lost the competition to be Joe Burrow’s backup to Jake Browning.

Siemian started one game last year for the Bears and it was against the Jets.

He went 14 of 25 for 179 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the 31-10 Jets win.

He started four games for the Saints in 2021 and the team lost all four games.

He has not won a game he started since 2017.

This is the latest chapter in a quarterback story that no one could have seen coming for the 2023 Jets.

After an offseason centered around Rodgers and how he could make the Jets Super Bowl contenders, everything has fallen apart.

The Rodgers injury on the first series of the season has forced Wilson to play when the Jets hoped this would essentially be a redshirt year for Wilson.

In three games, Wilson has completed 52.4 percent of his passes for 467 yards, two touchdowns and has thrown four interceptions.

On Sunday, in a 15-10 loss to the Patriots, Wilson completed 18 of 36 passes for 157 yards.

Outside of a fourth-quarter touchdown drive, Wilson was mostly ineffective.

That performance has led to questions of whether Wilson should remain the starter.

Coach Robert Saleh has defended Wilson and said he is the “unquestioned” starting quarterback.

The reality is the Jets don’t have any good alternatives, with Tim Boyle as Wilson’s backup.

The Jets decided in the offseason to keep Wilson as Rodgers’ primary backup and that decision has looked like a bad one with Rodgers injured.

Siemian has been a starter before in the league and possibly gives the Jets someone to turn to if Wilson continues to struggle in the coming weeks.
