Some KFC fans have been left bitterly disappointed by the fast food joint’s mashed potato balls, claiming they’re no different to frozen food from supermarkets.

Russ, a chemical engineer by trade, has won the hearts of millions with his hilarious, and often scathing, food reviews.

He recently reviewed the fan-favourite menu item – which has only just been  brought back for the first time since 2011.

In a recent video on his popular account ‘Russ Eats’, the foodie gave the dish a seven out of 10 mainly for its nostalgic value.

‘They’re pretty good, and they have the KFC flavouring, however they remind me of the McCain potato smiley faces,’ he said. ‘But they taste a bit squishier.’

‘I had some, but I still prefer the gravy mashies from the supermarket,’ another added.

He added, ’10 minutes in the air fryer. KFC have mashies at [$4.95 for six]. These ones are pretty big and delicious.’

Many others also regularly bought supermarket mashed potato balls.
